Is FlowEdit free to use?
Yes. FlowEdit is open source under the MIT license. The features described here belong to the current plugin; optional stock and GIF integrations require their own provider keys.
What do I need to run it?
Grav 2.0.19+, Admin2 2.1.0+, API 1.0.19+, and Shortcode Core 6.2.5+. The editor bundle ships prebuilt, so a Grav installation doesn’t need Node.js. See getting started.
Does my content stay in Markdown?
Yes. Ordinary content uses Markdown, rich blocks use [flow-*] shortcodes, and aligned text uses inline HTML. Unsupported constructs may change during a visual round trip. Keep FlowEdit and Shortcode Core enabled for shortcode rendering.
Can I match it to my theme?
Yes. Override a block’s Twig template in your theme or register your own block definition. Start with the custom blocks guide.
Can I try it before installing?
Absolutely. The playground runs the real editor in your browser. Writing, slash commands, custom blocks, tables, columns, and editable Markdown work there. Server features need Grav.
What should I know about the current version?
FlowEdit 1.0.0-rc.1 is a prerelease. Existing pages require no migration. When saved page content changes, FlowEdit detects a stale save and keeps your draft available to copy and reconcile. Read about draft recovery and save conflicts, or see the changelog for what’s new.
